Angioplasty
Angioplasty is a medical procedure used to open blocked or narrowed blood vessels, usually in the heart (coronary arteries). It helps improve blood flow and reduce chest pain (angina) or the risk of a heart attack. A thin tube with a small balloon is inserted into a blood vessel (usually through the groin or wrist) and guided to the blockage. The balloon is inflated to open the artery, and in many cases, a stent (a small mesh tube) is placed to keep it open. The procedure usually takes 1 to 2 hours and may require a short hospital stay.
